Smaller and less robust than our solid forged trowel, this tool is nevertheless a handy item for clearing away overlying sediment from the rocks you are really interested in.

Any geologist who has spend time in the British moorlands will no doubt have spend some time frustrated by an overlying carpet of boggy sphagnum; with a trowel to hand, this can be cleared away in seconds, and the bedrock brought to bear, ready for a hammering.

Want to get in close with your fossils? Need to identify that mineral, or recognise the grain size?
